Products
Milk Paint
What is Milk Paint and how do I use it?
This is an all natural paint product with its basic ingredients including milk, limestone, clay and natural pigments like coal, berries, roots, seeds and minerals. Simply add water and mix. Please see our instructions on how to mix it.
What do I use to mix it?
You will need a household blender. Not to worry you can wash out your blender and use it again for your shakes! This is a non-toxic all natural product. The blender is necessary as there are small particles of limestone, clay etc and if not finely mixed, you may have streaking in your project. Be sure to mix for a good 3 minutes and longer if necessary.
Do I need to prime before I put on milk paint?
No, absolutely not. Milk Paint needs to be able to bind with the wood fibers therefore no primary coat is needed. – Tip- try Homestead Houses’ stains which do not contain a sealer, then distress through for an authentic antique finish once the milk paint application is finished.
Do I need to seal the Milk Paint?
Yes, this needs to be done once the milk paint application is complete and you are satisfied with the result. Sealing it will brighten up the colour, make it look rich, and take away that chalky look. There are many different types of sealers. We recommend our environmentally friendly line of Beeswax finish, or our Hemp Oil wood Finish both which are food safe meaning that they are great to use in the kitchen, on wooden cutting boards utensils and more. These condition the wood and place a water sealant over top. There is also the Traditional Varnish that can be used as well
Can I use it outside?
Yes! We have discovered that this product lasts for years outside, it will never chip or peel. This is great for decks and more as milk paint is breathable and will never peel or chip. You will need to use the Hemp Oil sealer outside to ensure that it lasts. Simply reapply the paint after7-10 years as the colour may slowly fade.
I desire a cracked look, how can I achieve this?
Simply mix the powder a little thicker, take a hair dryer and rapidly dry the milk paint, this will then result in small cracks making the project look aged. If you are using the 100% Acrylic Latex, our Crackle medium can be used to create the same effect, and would need to be sealed with the Traditional Varnish.
100% Acylic Latex
What should I use to paint the outside of my house?
We recommend our 100% acrylic latex on well prepped exterior surfaces. This product will last for at least 15 years if properly applied. Our latex resists staining, soiling, marking and is very durable. The colour will also resist fading due to its incredible quality.

Is this washable?
